This report discusses a survey conducted by the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) in November-December 2023 to address the knowledge gap concerning the awareness, use and risk perceptions of alternative tobacco products in Turkey. Despite their prohibition by Presidential Decree No. 2149 in 2020, the use of these products has been increasing. The report aimed to understand the awareness, attitudes, beliefs, and usage patterns of Turkish adults, focusing on e-cigarettes and heat-not-burn products. A technical analysis of the survey data was conducted, including processing, tabulating responses, and statistical analysis among different demographic groups. The report covers various aspects such as awareness levels, prevalence of usage, reasons for use or non-use, perceived health risks compared to cigarettes, and effectiveness as smoking cessation aids.
